And that was made before the emission laws really kicked in so it not like it strangled, that just how much power it made. Instead, we should have had a much lower required monthly payment and paid over that amount for the difference of my boyfriends car during the 15mo so when he turned his in my payment would have been $400.

Personally I almost always service at the BMW dealer. They charge a premium but everything is almost always done correctly, and if not they have worked hard to fix it. They also detail the car and provide a loaner for months if needed. My dealer charges only 10 20% extra for parts and labour. Some dealers are charging double mine. For me, BMW has been a huge positive experience vs indie work.

BMW for instance mentions on stage that their proof of concept was succesful, but the future will be long and complicated as Germans (BMW) are very skeptical of new technologies. The concept looks great, but it is not much different from many prototypes on other chains.
That theory of mine probably doesn conform with the standard theory pushed by economists. I was actually inspired by a reddit comment in the past year that I can find, but it was on a post about some type of college race or gender quota. The system is pressurized and then leaks can be sought. Some common ones are the hoses best checked first. A next best look is at the water pump seal. Freeze plugs are more of rarity today, yet can be considered. A good look about is needed overall.

I know i have not accounted for maintenance, which is definitely the curve ball in this scenario. I have a family friend who has owned a BMW shop since 1980 and is going to examine any car i might get, and will do all the work. So im not too worried about getting bent over in the repair shop.

Having said that, with some basic automotive acumen and a few hours this issue can be fixed for as little as $50 or less to replace just the transfer case actuator gear whereas a mechanic or dealer would conceivably charge $1,500 to $2,000 or more to replace the transfer case actuator motor entirely (or worst case scenario attempt to replace the entire transfer case?).
