Most apprehension is a combination of real range limitations and great if unknown. The range is what it is, the unknown (Bev v ice) is a case of”the devil you know”. Bev (and the i3 in particular) has exceeded my expectations in that regard. My only wish is that the car has a range of 300+ miles.

Tools for the JobMost of these tools are pretty common in a toolbox. The only ones that I would recommend buying are 1) the 02 sensor socket, part 95045 at Harbor Freight for $7.99 (use the 20% coupon and free flashlight coupon in the paper to get your money’s worth) and 2) a wire stripper; sorry, no tips as where to get that cheap. If you don’t want to use the 02 sensor socket, you can take off the heat shield, held on by five 6 mm Allen head bolts (and one 4 mm I believe), which will give you enough room to work an adjustable wrench down there.

I have the following seats available: Britax Advocate andMarathon G series (MFR dates of 2013, 1 of each), Diono Rainier, and Evenflo Sureride. Are any of these good for ERF in the X3 for YDS? The “extra” Britax seats are in MILs and my moms’ cars and I like having them there and available for the periodic use they get. If one is constantly filling with a lot of water there most certainly may be a leak. The proper way to check the system is a knowledgeable person with a pressure tester. The system is pressurized and then leaks can be sought. Some common ones are the hoses best checked first. A next best look is at the water pump seal. Freeze plugs are more of rarity today, yet can be considered. A good look about is needed overall.

People often tend to forget that the shell is 1inch shorter than older models as well. I love it! I agree with PP’s that the Britax seats may not work for some kids ERF, but will for many others. I’m very happy with the seat other than the air sides taking up shoulder space even RF (rear facing) in our smaller car. I would have gone with Boulevard 70 CS if it had the Anna pattern. Anyway,my petite 18 months old has lots of room to grow RF. I love the quality, fabrics, the heights on the Britax seats that the headrest goes above the shell for FF, and the easy install. I agree it isn’t the most spacious for legs, but it is fine for us.

The Defender is a great narrow seat for 3 across that’s really budget friendly. Keeps just about every child in a 5 point harness until they are at an appropriate booster age (5 6 years old). My almost 6yo twin sibs are both in Defenders with at least 1 2 years left before they outgrow the harness mode.

To replace the washer fluid pump and/or strainer grommet. If you need to replace a leaking pump, I suggest also replacing the strainer grommet at the same time.
