There was always the option to install the base with a seat belt which is what we were planning on, but the lady on the phone told me that we wouldn’t be using the base at all and that we’d just have to strap the seat in with the belt which doesn’t seem all that safe to me.

So, given that, I think ours is an excellent seat and great for ERF. It’s easy to install in every vehicle I’ve e ER tried. The no re thread harness is worth every penny. I love how padded and plush the cover is. I like that it has the good LATCH connectors and not the flimsy seeming ones like on many other seats. No, it isn’t the ideal ERF seat for some kids, but it’s a great seat for many others!
Is your 5y and 2.5y rearfacing or forward facing? I wouldn’t buy a radian for a ff child. I would buy a combination seat. There are a few narrow combination seats that will last you years longer then the radian. The radian is great for extended rf for heavier kids and okay for ff harness. But the harness and the booster are outgrown at about the same time and the booster has a 50 minimum so she might never weigh enough to fit in the booster mode.
I purchased a new X5 It was great for the first year then the oil leaks started ruined my garage floor. Local dealer was not able to fix the leak. I had to add like a quart every two weeks. They told me and I quote BMWs leak. Heater blower died in middle of winter on ski trip. I purchased the X5 thinking it would be more dependable then the Range Rover I traded in for the BMW. I now own a JEEP Grand Cherokee and I am very happy with it. Very comfortable and reliable. Now when I see a Bimmer or RR I think back to all the tow and garage bills and the big oil stain and I appreciate my JEEP even more.6 months ago

Out of those 21 places, we have 2 you can stop by any day of the week at any time, 2 you can make an appointment for any time during their business hours, and the rest either have monthly/bimonthly/quarterly car seat check fairs. I had to set my appointment 24 days in advance because the children’s hospital was so booked out. I would suggest figuring out how to get yours checked soon.

To solve for this, you have to slow down. On most interstates with posted 70 mph, its not safe to be driving 55. My approach has become to assume that the estimated battery mileage will drop considerably over the trip, by 50%, and so the best plan is to finder a public charger at the turn around point. You can run the REx through its 2 gals, refuel and get another 30 miles, but again this needs to be at much less than 70 mph. When you get home, the REx will be screaming at you, hot, fans blowing.
Focus STs are WAAAAY more fun than a 328i, and they sold brand new for less than 24k. Find a lightly used one for 15k and get way more practicality from it due to it being a hatch. Also, you can make 5 PHEVs with the batteries it would take to make 1 BEV, which is noteworthy in the face of no reprieve in sight to the limited supply of raw materials, as well as limited supply of manufacturing capacity (this is mostly a human issue not enough trained professionals. not readily solved by just “build more factories.”).
Then I would get an awd suv/van that seats six as your second car, and trade out cars with him for the season. I just really don’t think it will add up to be worth having a special rwd bmw for summer, that you can’t even fit the whole family in if needed as a back up car.

With that said, when I in situations like this and I know there really nothing else I can do to get out of it (for the most part). I just sit back and go with it. Obviously, the situation isn ideal but creating unnecessary anxiety will just box the entire experience in a negative light when realistically it very possible for you to have a great time with no issues if you allow yourself.
