We love it. It a 2017 Premium. It very comfortable with plenty of room for me and someone to sit behind me and my 6 self, it drives and rides great (even if it not as old school cushy as a LeSabre), plenty of power from the 3.6L V6 and surprisingly good MPGs, and we really enjoy the panoramic moonroof.

I have a Marathon 70 a roundabout 50 and I had a classic MA (its now expired it got lots of loving) I love my britax seats. The new seats should fit great in the smaller car, the new ones sit slightly different and the shell is slightly shorter, so it takes up a little less room when rear facing then the older seats. Just note the seat has two down sides it more then likely will not be your last seat before a traditional booster and if you want to ERF for a long time its not the best choice. However if you keep that in mind its not a bad choice.

Some people will say that you can just go to your fire station or police department. You can’t! Charging and range limitations are really big negatives for a large number of car owners in this country. While I would bet long road trips are infrequent for most car owners, their place in our psyche is larger than in real life. family vacations, emergency last minute dashes across hundreds (or even thousands) of miles, college travel (prospective college visits, move in day, spring break, et al), distant special events (concerts, sports, etc) are all disproportionately enshrined in our collective conscious compared to our daily commutes. pure EVs just can fill this need yet. they will get there with time, but until then, it is unreasonable to pretend it not a significant drawback. There is really no point in trying to convince someone to buy an EV by downplaying this fact. they are great second cars, and they are great cars for people who are fed up with big oil/climate change/high gas prices, and hence willing to adjust their lifestyle as necessary. for most everyone else, hybrids and ICE vehicles are a much safer bet, and a much easier sell.

Wow, was the car undriveable when you got the drivetrain error? Just took possession of the i3 today, first thing I noticed was gas tank cover stuck, though openable with green latch, needless to say noone at the Carvana knew how that worked. So far I have driven it to drain the battery enough to kick the Rex in emission mode. It sounded a bit louder than another Rex engine on a i3 I had test drove before. Other than that it drives smooth, handling the nation capitol fresh pot holes and uneven roads pretty well. HK sounds is a bit tiny but bass is deep and accurate, my kids fit in the back.

So I hate to do this because I tried to use this exact argument as to how it not so much Tesla leading the charge into a BEV future, but governments, but so far (unless something had changed in the past 6 months) none of those countries have any sort of signed and ratified legislation those dates are just promises/pledges. Maybe they will happen, maybe they won It likely depend on the feasibility of actually banning ICE/PHEV vehicles at the time. I suspect those who set 2025 dates will push those back. I suspect those who set 2040 dates might be ok. That said, 20 years of more PHEV and less pure ICE is absolutely a good step and absolutely part of the solutions.

You put off running an errand just so you can run it in the i3 instead of the old gas car. I got a supercharged jag in my garage that gathers dust, because frankly, I rather be driving the i3. And I say that not just because it cheaper although it STAGGERINGLY cheaper to drive the little electric car.

I admit that I a Mercedes fanboy and when I started off my car quest I was dead set on a W204. Test drove a few and even got to test newer CLA and C300, while I connected much more with these cars and prefer the interior of these over them all. the driver feel was still just as bad (but I expected it). Much more of a “boaty” type feel that I don mind as the drive was smooth and subtle and would have been fine with if I never test drove the ATS. I liked the CLA but knew I didn want to own one and the newer C300 was great but really out of my price range. Again, I also not a fan of what it costs to own and maintain these in the states.

With that said, when I in situations like this and I know there really nothing else I can do to get out of it (for the most part). I just sit back and go with it.
