FK Composites è guidata da Freek Koppelmans nato a Drachten (NL). Da sempre la sua passione è la cantieristica navale e proprio per questa ragione all’età di 18 anni si reca a Falmouth in Inghilterra dove inizia gli studi che lo porteranno poi a conseguire una laurea in Yachtdesign presso l’Università di Southampton Solent.
La “Southampton Solent University” forma ingegneri/architetti navali con basi teoriche, tecniche e progettuali.
Dalla progettazione alla costruzione di piccoli yacht a vela da competizione fino a super-yacht milionari. Da motovedette ad imbarcazioni commerciali.

‘The BEng (Hons) Yacht and Powercraft Design at Southampton Solent University is a well-established engineering degree that aims to produce graduates with the theoretical understanding and design skills of a professional naval architect working in the yacht and small craft industry. This could range from designing small racing sailing yachts through to a millionaire’s super yachts or patrol boats and commercial craft.
The naval architect/designer must take responsibility for the overall design, structure, speed and power, safety and stability of a craft. Emphasis is placed on practical examples and design applications, supported by computer-aided design (CAD) work. There are three principal themes running through all three years, broadly described as small craft technology, CAD and design practice, and engineering theory’.

IInizia a lavorare nel settore della cantieristica navale nel 1988. Nel 1991 apre un suo cantiere; ”FK Boats”.
Nel 2008 il nome della società muta nell’attuale “FK Composites”.
Oggi è molto conosciuto ed apprezzato nel suo settore per la sua professionalità e per la qualità garantita dei suoi lavori.
